TemporoMandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMD TMJD) is an overall term covering ‘pain and dysfunction’ of the muscles of mastication, which is the muscles that move the jaw and the temporomandibular joints (TMJ). It is these joints that connect the mandible to the skull and make the clicking noises during jaw movement.
Can TMJ be linked to other health-related problems?
Understanding this disorders or dysfunction can be quite complex sometimes. We’ve been asked many times how can TMD be linked to other health-related problems. Our body parts are all connected and if one is out of alignment then it doesn’t take much to create a domino effect.
Dr. Florian Mack will tell you that the TemporoMandibular Joint, TMJ (commonly known as the jaw joint) is probably the most complex joint in the human body because when it’s out of alignment it can cause pain and discomfort to other parts of the body as well creating the dysfunction.
